Time is of the essence, they say. Well you can call me “Time-saver-savviness… person” today because I have the solution to your pending life issues…
1. A revisited old one but most underrated: Pick out your clothing for the entire week at the weekend. Yes. Seems extreme but works wonders for peace of mind. Whack all your pre-planned wardrobe onto ready-to-wear hangers.
2. Separate your accessories and add them to your hangers. That pendant chain that goes with everything will no longer be tangled with the vintage brooch and the statement earrings from date night.
3. On the new purchase of a new handbag, bring it to a tailor and get it lined in an outrageously bright colour. This will save your life. Finding the keys will be easy and that pen you thought you lost… look, there it is!
4. Always have your sunglasses in the outside pocket of your handbag. This is a religion. Irish weather is temperamental and rain is inevitable but sunnies have multiple purposes. Covering your dark circles en route to the office; shielding your identity from the neighbour from hell… and of course the last issue: the actual sun being in your eyes.
5. Keep a change purse inside your wallet. A bucket load of organised shrapnel can actually de-stress you. Think of the car park in the shopping centre, the foamy cappuccino fix at midday and the euro for the weekly food shop-trolley on the way home.
6. Cuticle cream is an instant pick-me-up. Significantly smaller than a container of hand cream, yet oh-so effective. There is nothing better for making busy hands presentable for that impromptu meeting or lunch date. We suggest BurtsBees, Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.
7. Have polite messages set in the cache of your phone for when your mom/mother-in-law/potential employer calls and you can’t answer the phone. There is nothing worse than an abrupt “Call me later” retort.
8. Bring headphones with you everywhere. Music can save your soul on that commute. Need some aural inspiration? Try these podcasts for parents.
