Head lice is something all parents will face at some stage
Getting that awful head lice letter home from school is something we all dread.
As gross as they are, head lice is extremely common and something you can get rid of, as difficult as it may seem at first.
We have rounded up three seriously handy tips that might help you deal with them.
You can thank us later.
1. Keep hair pulled back
Braids and buns are your best friends – as loose locks provide the head lice with far more entry points and hiding places. Take special care to keep the hair tightly pulled back from areas like around the back of the neck and ears, where the critters like to start their (unwelcome) visit.
2. Use coconut oil for all it’s worth
If you thought you knew all the uses for coconut oil by now, think again. This multi-purpose kitchen staple is also perfect for keeping head lice away when you use it in your children’s hair, as the oil makes it harder for lice to stick to the hair or attach themselves to the scalp.
3. Use a drop of tea tree oil in the leave-in conditioner
Tea tree oil is one of those scents that lice detest, and you can harness this by adding a little drop of this oil to your child’s shampoo or leave-in detangler/conditioner (if you use that).
