Cute… but we’re slightly baffled by Beyonce and Jay Z’s baby names

They're clearly going to be among the cutest, most gorgeous celebrity newborns around.

But we have to admit we initially raised a baffled eyebrow at Beyonce and Jay Z's reported baby names. Yes, according to TMZ - which has a decent track-record when it comes to such matters - the names bestowed on the Carter twins can now be confirmed. Their parents' choice? Rumi and Sir - as in... little girl Rumi Carter and little boy Sir Carter. "We know that because the company run by Bey and Jay that owns the trademarks to their names filed legal docs Monday, June 26 - right around the time the twins went home - to secure rights to the names Rumi Carter and Sir Carter," reports the website. The paperwork has been filed by the same company that submitted a Blue Ivy, the couple's five-year-old daughter, trademark earlier this year. And while the names had us fairly lost, TMZ has picked up on a possible source: Rumi is a 13th century Persian poet and 'Sir' is referenced in one of his most famous poems: Bring the pure wine of love and freedom. But sir, a tornado is coming. More wine, we'll teach this storm A thing or two about whirling. Bit of a stretch? Time will tell (PS Rumi is also a popular girls' name in Japan). The trademarks are for fragrances, cosmetics, key chains, baby teething rings, strollers, mugs, water bottles, hair ribbons, playing cards, tote bags, sports balls, rattles, and novelty items.
