Pregnancy can be a stressful time.

It can be an even more stressful time if you’re a first-time mum.

Not knowing what to expect when you’re expecting is an issue that most women deal with when they’re pregnant – you can read as many books and scour as many forums as you like, but chances are your pregnancy will not be the same as another woman’s.

It’s probably fair to say then that every woman worries about different things when they first discover their pregnancy.

However, there is one thing that a lot of women report feeling nervous or anxious about during their first trimester – trying to hide their bump.

While dealing with morning sickness is up there too in terms of worries, concealing the growing baby bump is the thing that most women say they worry about when they become pregnant.

Research conducted by Aptaclub showed that 39 percent of pregnant women were worried about whether or not they would be able to hide their bumps until they felt comfortable enough to tell people they were expecting.

Understandably, there are a lot of reasons for this worry too.

Expectant mothers may not have decided who they want to tell so early in their pregnancy. Similarly, it’s not uncommon for women to conceal their pregnancies from their employers and other people they work with during their first trimester, and even into their second.

Pregnancy, of course, is not all about worries, it’s also about happy moments too.

60 percent of women said that having their first scan was their most powerful memory from the first trimester.

As pregnancy continues through trimester two and three, most women say feeling their baby move for the first time was the most memorable moment they experienced.

Midwife, Sinead McSorley said:

“Pregnancy is such a magical time for mums-to-be, but it’s also a time of many changes.

“There is so much information for mums-to-be to take in, from how their body is changing during pregnancy, to how their baby is developing.”

While much of this development can be seen, a lot of it can’t.

For the aspects of pregnancy that aren’t so visible to the naked eye, Aptaclub has introduced a pregnancy timeline, an interactive week by week hub of in-depth, expert information and advice for each trimester of pregnancy.

The timeline covers everything from the size of your baby at different times during pregnancy to the point where your baby can get hiccups.

Adorable.
