"Okay, this is quite a personal post but I am now 4 months postpartum and beginning to embrace what my body has become."The proud mum went on to describe how her pregnancy "wasn't exactly an easy ride" and her sons were born prematurely, and she was hospitalised a few times because of dehydration and early contractions. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bf0bHeDAk98/?utm_source=ig_embed She ended up undergoing a caesarean birth, which left her with a small visible scar on her stomach. She added:
"Our bodies go through a lot, a lot of change and your body is put through an enormous amount and I am so proud of myself that I carried such beautiful children and gave them food, warmth and most importantly all the love that I never thought I had. "With a scar that I will have for the rest of my life is a tiny sacrifice for a lifetime of beautiful memories with my family.https://www.instagram.com/p/BfYQeJDgpK3/?taken-by=marson.twins
"Your stretch marks DO NOT define you, your scar DOES NOT define you, your flab DOES NOT define you. "You are incredible, you are a mother and you are the light of your babies eyes. "I wanted to share this to show the reality of our bodies and that it’s okay not to be perfect because in their eyes you are exactly that."https://www.instagram.com/p/BfLkU34AOgU/?taken-by=marson.twins Plenty of mums took the comments of the post to thank Emily for her candid open letter, as well as sharing their own postpartum stories. One person commented:
"Few are the mothers who not just talk about it, but show us these signs proudly. You must be a great mum."Someone else wrote:
"Absolutely beautiful! I just had a c section last week and it was painful to try and feed the baby or to even do anything. Looking good mommy!"Another added:
"LOVE this- absolutely beautiful. Be proud. Our bodies are amazing.... and to house twins is amazing!"
