My sister and I have chosen similar baby names- should I change mine?

There are some baby names that always prove more popular than others.

Try to find a family in Ireland that doesn’t have at least one member called Niamh. It’s like mission impossible.

But what do you do when your sister picks a baby name that is a little bit too similar to yours?

One expectant-mum recently found out her sister was planning on choosing a name very similar to one she had in mind.

The mum-to-be explained that both she and her sister are pregnant, but her sister is much further along than her.

She admitted they hadn’t discussed baby names with one another, but they’re both expecting girls.

The woman explained that she recently found out her sister wants to call her daughter Cara, but she wants to name her baby Zara.

She can’t help but feel it will be too similar.

“She’s much further along and today announced her baby’s name will be Cara. I’m now confused about what I should do as me and my partner have chosen Zara for our daughter’s name!

“Her baby’s middle name is going to be after our Grandmother who died last year and that was my plan. It’s a situation where all I can think is what are the odds.”

The woman said she has had her heart set on this name for years.

“I’ve never imagined naming my daughter anything else, so I don’t even have a back-up,” she confessed.

“I’m nervous if I go ahead she’s going to think I copied her and it’s going to cause a drama but at the same time, it’s the only name I’ve wanted for a girl.

She said she would be willing to change her daughter’s middle name.

What do you think the mum-to-be should do?
