The cute posters we need on public transport

Sophie White

When I was in the “egg with legs” phase (5-10 months pregnant) I would often butt the bump right up in front of some awkward teenager who was resolutely refusing to give me his seat on the bus.

Never mind that I also wanted his crisps and the chocolate bar he had in his pocket. “Give me all your stuff,” I wanted to say, “I’m more pregnant than you, I need it more. My baby needs your Monster Munch.” Instead I made do with sighing and shifting my (considerable) weight from one foot to the other. Even still it was rare enough that anyone would offer up their seat. And if somebody did stand up, it was usually some mortifyingly old or infirm person who’s seat I was embarrassed to accept.

Enter Shiyang He, a Shanghai-based designer who has created a series of cute posters for display on public transport to remind (young and able) passengers why one should ALWAYS give their seat to pregnant ladies.

The same designer also brought his vision to an arresting campaign for advertising agency Ogilvy’s Beijing office, depicting the detrimental affect smartphones can have on our relationships.
