The palace issued a statement this morning.

Kate Middleton was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of this morning ahead of the birth of her third child.

Kensington Palace issued a statement confirming the Duchess of Cambridge was in the “early stages of labour” on Monday morning.

The statement read:

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour.

“The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced in September that they were expecting their third child together.

The couple are already the proud parents of 4-year-old Prince George and Princess Charlotte, aged 2.

And while the gender of their third child is currently unknown, many have speculated that Kate could give birth to a baby boy – mostly due to her blue maternity wear and Prince William appearing to let the news slip.

The Duke of Cambridge reportedly hinted that he and Kate are expecting a little boy while recently cheering on Aston Villa.

He was spotted celebrating Jack Grealish’s goal against Cardiff City, where he told other supporters what he wanted to name the impending arrival.

According to The Mirror, he told fans “I’m going to insist the baby is called Jack” – before, after a pause, adding “…or Jackie”.
