Baby name trends are ever-changing, with some of the most-loved names of the '80s and '90s fading out of style.
Names like Laura, Aoife, and Rachel used to be some of the most common names in Ireland for baby girls, but that is no longer the case.
Parents of baby girls are now opting for more modern and shorter monikers like Emily, Grace, and Mia.
And there's one name we loved from the 1990s that is falling out of the top 100 baby girl names in Ireland.
There's no doubt your class in secondary school had at least one Ciara in it. The name was one of the most loved names by parents in the '90s.
It was so loved that it was the second most popular name for baby girls born in 1998.
However, fast forward to 2025, and the name is nowhere near the top 10.
The name Ciara is now placed at #91 in the top 100 baby girl names in Ireland.
According to the CSO, the name Ciara is losing popularity with new parents.
In 2024, Ciara was ranked 91 of all baby girls recorded in Ireland. In total, 53 baby girls were recorded with the name Ciara in this year.
The classic name is still one of our favourites and we wouldn't be surprised if it made a comeback in years to come.
