This is a big change.
John Lewis has become the first major brand to remove ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ labels from its children’s clothing.
It has been reported that the brand decided upon the decision to avoid “reinforcing gender stereotypes.”

Instead, clothing will come with tags that say ‘Boys & Girls’ or ‘Girls & Boys’, with ages starting from newborn to 14 years.
The Daily Mail reports that soon school uniforms will also appear with unisex labels.
Caroline Bettis, the head of childrenswear at John Lewis, said in a statement: “We do not want to reinforce gender stereotypes within our John Lewis collections and instead want to provide greater choice and variety to our customers, so that the parent or child can choose what they would like to wear.”
