‘Is it normal for my child to have this many accidents in daycare?’

This mum is worried about her 15-month-old son’s daycare

A new mum has expressed her concerns about her child’s daycare after they experienced multiple accidents there.

We all know children tumble and fall on a daily basis. It’s the main reason our medicine press is stocked full of Peppa Pig plasters, but this mum is worried about how many times he’s fallen.

She explained that her 15-month-old son has been in daycare for around three months now.

The mum told Reddit, “My son (15 months) has been in daycare for about 3 months now and he’s had 5 major falls with incident reports written up.”

One of the falls was so bad that her son ended up with a black eye and a bloody nose.

“The worst resulted in a black eye and today he fell on his face 3 times in a row while outside and got a bloody nose and bad scrapes on his forehead.”

His mum explained that he never falls like this when he is at home and she’s now worried about how often he is hurt in creche.

“I know kids fall and get hurt all the time but it just seems so frequent especially with him only going three days a week. Maybe there’s just so much going on he is just really excited and gets clumsy?”

Fellow mums were quick to reassure her that this is actually quite common, especially when your child first starts creche.

One said, “I work in a daycare/kindergarten. Kids fall. Often at 15 months, they are testing what they can do, learning to walk and climb.”

Another advised the mum to ask about the falls to see how they were happening.

However, others urged her to keep an eye on the issue because you can never be too careful.

What advice would you give this mum?
