The clever little gadget that stops your toddler’s food from touching on his plate

Trine Jensen-Burke

My little girl was an absolute nightmare when she was younger when it came to mealtimes.

Not so much about what she ate, she was quite good that way, and loves her fruit and vegetables. However, she did not like any food touching on her plate, and entire dinners could be left untouched if the broccoli as much as got into contact with the pasta sauce.

What we could have done with, of course, is one of these – which would have made my life a whole lot easier.

Because the Food Cubby—a fancy new food-separating gadget—looks like exactly the kind of thing every parent needs to get through dinner in peace.

These little silicone (silicone is so much safer than plastic, by the way, when it comes to things you want to come into contact with your food) half moons will suction directly to your child’s plate. Meaning, of course, that whatever componoents their meal consists of, the items do not need to come into contact with each other on the plate.

No matter how runny, all the food bits will stay separate, so your little one will have nothing to complain about at the family dinner table. (In theory—they always think of something.)

And in fairness, we think that sounds like £3.59 well spent, no?
