An amazing idea.
LEGO has recently announced that they will launch Braille Bricks next year in a bid to help blind and visually impaired children learn braille.
The kits, which have been in development for the last few years will finally be released in 2020.
The iconic LEGO bumps will now serve as learning tools for visually impaired children.
At the Sustainable Brands conference in Paris last month, the LEGO Foundation and LEGO Group announced their new project, custom LEGO Braille Bricks.
While the idea first came about in 2011 the project went through several years of development before it was ready to be unveiled.
According to Design Milk Treasurer of the European Blind Union, Philippe Chazal welcomes the new kits and believes that it will encourage more children to take up learning braille.
“Braille users often are more independent, have a higher level of education, and better employment opportunities.
We strongly believe LEGO Braille Bricks can help boost the level of interest in learning braille.”
Approximately 19 million children worldwide live with visual impairment so these new LEGO braille kits could help make a difference to literally millions of children across the globe.
