Rachel McAdams brings her new motherhood to the forefront of her latest magazine shoot.
The actress, who became a first-time mum earlier this year, will appear on the Girls.Girls.Girls. Magazine cover wearing breast pumps.
Since the image was released yesterday it has become viral and is being heavily praised by those in the breastfeeding community.
According to an Instagram post shared by the founder of the magazine Claire Rothstein the photo was not intentional and came about when the photographer spotted McAdams pumping milk.
“This shoot was about 6 months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding. We had a mutual appreciation disagreement about who’s idea it was to take this picture but I’m still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more.”
Many countries, including Ireland, still have very low statistics when it comes to breastfeeding with many new mums feeling embarrassed or afraid of being publically shamed.
Images like this one send a bold and powerful message to mums everywhere that breastfeeding is natural and that everyone from your next door neighbour to movie stars on photoshoots does it.
The Mean Girls and Notebook star welcomed her first child with boyfriend Jamie Linden back in April but the family are keeping things private and McAdams has no social media accounts.
