Just in time for Christmas.
My Irish Books has announced the launch of two new children’s push-button audio books featuring well-known Christmas carols.
The new books – ‘My Christmas Songs’ and ‘Mo Chuid Amhráin Nollag’ – each feature five classic Christmas songs, performed by young Irish singers.
‘My Christmas Songs’ includes old favourites such as ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’, ‘Deck the Halls’, ‘Little Drummer Boy’ and ‘Away in a Manger’ and is onsale now.
Its twin edition, ‘Mo Chuid Amhráin Nollag’ will go on sale in December, and features a mix of well-known Christmas carols performed in Irish as well as some traditional Irish Christmas songs.
They include: ‘I Leataobh i Mainséar’, ‘An Drumadóirín’, ‘Bualadh Bos’, ‘An Oíche Úd i mBeithil’ and ‘Trí Rí ag Leanúint’.
The new releases join two other books in the My Irish Books series, which both feature traditional Irish songs, such as ‘Trasna na dTonnta’, ‘Oró Sé do Bheatha Abhaile’ and ‘Peigín Leitir Móir’.
Commenting on the launch of the Christmas book series, Director and Series Editor of My Irish Books, Risteard Mac Liam, said:

As part of the book development process, we recorded all of the songs with six fantastic young Irish singers. It’s great to have them on board as they really make the songs more relatable and bring the books to life.
The concept for our new books is the same as before – using embedded technology and an internal speaker, which encourage independent reading for children. We are delighted to bring these books to the market and look forward to seeing children and parents alike singing along and enjoying the Christmas cheer!”
‘My Christmas Songs’ and ‘Mo Chuid Amhráin Nollag’ include original illustrations for each song, illustrated by award-winning artist Tatyana Feeney. The drawings are also available to purchase as prints, on the My Irish Books website.
The books are suitable for children aged 1-6 years old and are on sale on myirishbooks.com and in selected bookstores across Ireland and they retail at €14.95.
