You Need These 5 handy gadget hacks for travelling with kids

Travelling with kids doesn't have to be hassle...

Sophie White

Ever come back from a holiday in need of a holiday? Always. Especially when travelling with kids. If you are heading away this Easter, these clever gadgets will help make the nerve-fraying travel time way smoother.

1 The Trunki Boost-a-pak

This one’s a bit of an investment but is suitable for kids from 4-11-years so it’s a gadget that will keep on giving. The booster seat converts into a backpack for travel, so when abroad there’s no need to rely on the car hire company to supply your booster seat which can be a bit hit and miss. Also handy to have for any extra little passengers on the school run. Available here.

2 Wearing the baby

Babywearing is the ultimate travel hack. The babies like the view and the closeness and your hands are free to guzzle holiday cocktails, or (more realistically) carry the luggage. Visit BabyWearing Ireland for great advice and brilliant info.

3 Portable sun shade

A portable tent to shade babies (or if staycationing keep the wind and rain off) is a great gadget to have on the hols. This nifty number on Amazon won’t break the bank and also provides a nice retreat for parental beach naps.

4 Genius wine bag organiser

This isn’t so much a gadget as a repurposing scenario. Use an ordinary supermarket wine carrier for extraordinary levels of organisation while on your holliers. Maybe this is the kind of thing that more accomplished parents just do naturally but we’re a bit amateur hour round here and so were really impressed with this idea. This is a genius way to keep the kid essentials ordered and within grabbing reach.

5 Portable highchair harness

This piece of kit will turn any dining chair into a baby-friendly high chair. Perfect for the holidays or even just heading out and about at home. Visit Irish online shop Cherish Me to pick one up.

And finally bring ear plugs…

If travelling by plane, train or boat bringing ear plugs is a must. Hand them out to those around you to garner the good will of your fellow passengers in advance of any potential crying. It’s practical and an ice breaker.
