“Stop comparing bodies and situations. My body is not here for your comparison so please don’t judge it.”

TV presenter Laura Whitmore has asked her social media followers to be more considerate in their commentary on post-baby bodies.

Laura, who gave birth a few weeks ago, shared a snap of herself back on the set of Celebrity Juice. While she received a number of comments praising her appearance, she pointed out that commenting on women’s bodies isn’t always helpful.

In the caption of another post, the TV presenter wrote:

“Little tip for speaking to new mums, everyone has a different experience so please don’t put out your opinion or expectation on them. I’ve been told I won’t be able to leave the house and should feel shit. But I’ve actually felt the best I’ve felt ever and the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life.”

She added that she feels “a bit guilty for feeling good”, as she’s been told she shouldn’t.

She continued: “I’ve created something incredible. I had a positive natural birth with thankfully no complications and a baby that LOVES the boob (and jaysus those boobs are looking good!) also a supportive partner who loves changing dirty nappies.”

Laura added: “I am lucky that’s my truth at the moment. I’m sure there will be tougher days. But you should never compare yourself to anyone else as your journey is specific to you. Stop comparing bodies and situations. My body is not here for your comparison so please don’t judge it. Support other women, it doesn’t knock you – in fact it empowers you.”

Last week, Laura confirmed the birth of her first child – a baby girl – with her husband Iain Stirling. After reports came in that she had given birth, Laura shared a snap of her new daughter with her Instagram following.
