Expert Recommends Having a 15-30 Minute Nap at Work Every Day

Finding time to make a cup of tea whilst juggling work and family is tricky enough never mind squeezing in a nap, but in an ideal world you should apparently try to get some shut eye during the day.

Fiona Kerr, a neural specialist from the University of Adelaide, told the Daily Mail that people should take a short nap at work if possible.

She explained that the best nap lasts between 15 and 30 minutes before adding that it “increases alertness, memory, cognition and mood.”

Fiona also revealed her top napping tips for those willing to put this theory to the test.

She recommended: “Try going to a quiet, dark place and cut down as much stimulus as possible. Relax for the 20 minutes and concentrate on your breathing.

“Even if you don’t sleep you’ll feel refreshed. The other week I curled up under my desk for 20 minutes in order to get a small amount of shut eye.”

Like we said, finding time to boil the kettle is hard enough so we’re not sure how realistic this is. Of course, we’ll try anything once, especially if it involves a bit of relaxation!
