Expert Reveals That a Daily Shower Isn’t REALLY Necessary

If you’re anything like us, your daily shower is the only time that you are actually left alone to your own thoughts and it usually only lasts a couple of minutes (if even). In other words, it’s pretty precious and it’s also just nice to feel clean.

But it seems that a health expert is trying to convince us that we don’t need to shower every day and that it’s not needed in order to keep bacteria at bay.

Dr. Elaine Larson, who is an infectious disease expert at Columbia University School of Nursing, told Time: “I think showering is mostly for aesthetic reasons.

“People think they’re showering for hygiene or to be cleaner, but bacteriologically, that’s not the case.”

Washing your hands is apparently an adequate way of protecting the body against illness and over-bathing can make you more prone to germs and infections.

According to the article, showering once or twice a week is sufficient, although if you are exercising or working up a sweat, washing is needed to remove body odour.

So there you have it, a daily scrub isn’t really necessary… not sure we’ll be giving it up though. (After all, the article didn’t mention anything about those situations when you have baby sick all over you!)

Having a bath is also believed to be beneficial for you. Click HERE to find out why.
