Mother’s genius ‘bike hack’ keeps kids active indoors

Melissa Carton

What a great idea.

Play dates and after school activities are just a hare’s breath away.

While most of us are trying to break up the day with either spending time in our gardens or going for a short walk, with the changeable Irish weather that’s not always possible.

So what do we do if we want to keep the kids occupied and active but we can’t go outside?  This mother has found an answer that works for her.

Yep, who needs to buy an expensive exercise bike when you can prop up your child’s regular bicycle for free?

Mums across the internet have been sharing their hack of propping up the stabilisers on their child’s bike so that they can cycle while remaining in the house.

I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of jealous that my bike doesn’t have stabilisers because I wouldn’t mind doing this to keep fit myself.

The hack is proving very popular on social media with one video posted by mum Meghan King being viewed over 200,000 times and receiving thousands of comments;

“Awesome idea, I’m trying this tomorrow with my kid.”

“This idea is brilliant for an indoor cycle!”

“Such a smart idea. Going to try this with my kids myself.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, leave it to mums to come up with the best hacks.

I’ve seen so much ingenuity from parents since this lock down started and I’m only getting more impressed by their ideas by the day.

No if you’ll excuse me, I have two children’s bikes to prop up, with possibly an attempt at propping up my own bike too.
