Cancer is an illness that has touched almost every family.
Approximately every 15 minutes, someone in Ireland is diagnosed with cancer. It’s something that has affected my own family with my mother and two of her siblings being diagnosed with the disease in the last decade and a half.
Last year my mum was given the all clear from her cancer and to say she was relieved is an understatement. It’s something that most people want to shout from the rooftops and this woman very almost did.

Breast cancer survivor, Lakesha Ball, recently found out that she could finally go home from hospital cancer free and she wanted the world to know about it.
The mum was a patient at the University of Maryland Proton Center and it is a tradition that when patients are leaving that they ring the bell.
The delighted mum rang the bell like there was no tomorrow and I honestly thought it was going to come off the wall she was ringing it that hard.
The heartwarming footage was filmed by Lakesha’s daughter who also filmed her last treatment session. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to locate some tissues.
