Try This Simple Ear Massage Technique To Combat Stress

Sharyn Hayden

There are moments in every parent’s journey where we feel like the stress of it all is getting on top of us.

Juggling the demands of family life alongside other work, keeping the house going, trying to get a bit of grown-up time in, paying the bills, keeping food on the table, not to mention doing all this while surviving on a minimum amount of sleep.. it’s a lot to deal with.

We all know the serious impact that stress can have on our physical and emotional wellbeing – you just know it after experiencing a period of stress and can feel a heaviness or pain in certain parts of your body (for me, it’s always a bit of a sick feeling in my stomach).

For a quick anti-stress tip that will help your body to physically combat the feeling of stress, Healthy Cures recommends that the solution lies at your ear.

Or to be precise, at the centre of the upper third part of your ear!

Treating this area with gentle massage is said to strengthen your overall heath, decrease stress and boost energy levels.

You can repeat this technique every night before you go to bed for general relaxation or use it to calm down every time you feel stressed.

So here’s what you need to do:

1. Press this point with the tips of your fingers and gently massage it. Breathe deeply.
2. When you inhale look to the left, and on the exhale look to the right.
3. You will feel how your body calms down.

If you are feeling more stressed than what you consider to be normal or have feelings of being unable to cope, please contact your family GP immediately.
