This Video Has Lulled Millions Of People All Over The World To Sleep

Trine Jensen-Burke

Tired of counting sheep when your head hits the pillow at night?

Well, thankfully, due to this video of a river in Co. Leitrim (that’s right!), salvation is only a click away.

The above eight-hour(!) video captures the peaceful scenery of a footbridge over a river right here on the Emerald Isle. And apparently, the sweet bird song combined with the very relaxing sound of running waves have so far soothed over six million people to sleep.

It was visual artist Johnnie Lawson, who recorded the scenery a few years back, and has since heard from people across the globe about its snooze-inducing effects. “People who were finding it hard to sleep began writing to me from all over the world – North Korea, the Central African Republic, Beijing and across the UK,” Lawson told WomansDay.com recently.

The artist has now shot close to 200 nature clips and keeps making them longer on request from his followers. “That way, if people wake up a bit in the middle of the night, the relaxing track will still be playing,” he explains.

This is what one well-rested YouTube user had to say about the video:

“Since I found this video, I’ve had longer sleeps and better days. I struggled to go to sleep in complete silence; something was missing and it frustrated me more every morning when I wake up. Now all I do is slip my earphones in, close my eyes and within a couple minutes, that beautiful sound sets me to sleep, and I feel so much better in the mornings. Thank you for uploading this video it was such a thoughtful thing for you to do!”

So unless you happen to be living in Leitrim and near the actual river in question, we suggest you watch this video for some serious snoozing tonight.
