Mum’s story of how she got her daughter to sleep after bereavement is very emotional

Jade Hayden

A mum has shared her story of how she got her daughter to finally get to sleep at night after she suffered a bereavement.

She also invented her a light to help her along.

Australian mum Cara Benau said that her daughter began associating sleeping with death following the loss of a loved one.

On her website, she wrote:

“Sadly, at an early age, my daughter had to face the pain of unexpectedly losing someone she loved. It affected her greatly and, before we knew it, she had become gripped by a fear of death.

“She began to associate sleep with death and feared never waking up. We took her to see psychologists, we redecorated her room, we even took her to sleep school, all with minimal success.”

Eventually, Cara decided to take the matter into her own hands and invent a sleep aid that would help her drift off.

Combining light therapy, aromatherapy, a humidifier, and white noise, she created a lamp that sent her daughter off to sleep within minutes.

On her website, she said that the lamp calmed and relaxed her daughter and allowed her to get her sleeping pattern back on track.

The mum called her light Glow Dreaming, and she has since created a range of lamps featuring different colours, patterns, and essential oils.
