Peppa Pig is being translated into Irish

The popular kid’s TV show, Peppa Pig is set to be translated into Irish.

RTÉ has confirmed the beloved children’s show is getting the Irish treatment this summer with a release date expected in August.

RTÉ confirmed: “Move over Peppa Pig, here comes Peppa Muc! Yes, that’s right, everyone’s favourite puddle-jumping pig is now fluent as Gaeilge!”

The broadcaster is set to spend €80,000 on dubbing the popular children’s show, according to The Irish Mirror. The broadcaster will also dub Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as Friends.

They’re hoping the Irish version will encourage younger children to pick up more of the Irish language.

The RTÉ team is currently looking for “tenders for a contract to dub season nine of the British animated series, Peppa Pig, or “Peppa Muc” in Irish”.

If your child is obsessed with Peppa Pig then why not introduce them to the Irish version of the show?

Not only is it entertaining, but it will also be extremely educational.

The beloved animated series has been broadcast in more than 180 territories and over 40 languages.

If you’ve ever wondered why your child is so obsessed with Peppa Pig then there’s actually a scientific reason why.

Producer Phil Davies revealed in an interview with The Guardian’s Ben Beaumont-Thomas that using a child to voice Peppa made the character relatable for young viewers.

“Our experience was that children don’t like laughing at themselves, but do like laughing at their parents. By having a Mummy and Daddy Pig, we could get humour in without having to laugh at the child character,” he said.
