Tricks of the trend: Fringe benefits – 3 looks to wear right now

How to work the fringing micro trend without going full cowgirl on it...

Sophie White

With the Seventies dominating the fashosphere, it’s no surprise that one of this season’s major micro-trends is fringing. If you find fringed saddlebags and suede jackets a bit boho-boring there’s no need to sit this one out there’re loads of cool ways to work the look without doing some tired homage to Sienna Miller circa early noughties.

Un-fussy fringe:

Work a tassel into some colour blocking for an unexpected bit of texture.

Double-fringing

Double fringing sounds like a crime against fashion but actually when done well it can be as good as double denim any day. Work the double-tassel in a muted palette and boxy shapes to ensure that the overall look isn’t too busy. This chic skirt and top combo from Sonia Rykiel show that double-fringe doesn’t have to mean hippy from hell.

Touch of tassel:

The fringed bag is a great way to work the trend without having to overly commit. The fringed saddle bag has been done to death; we like this slightly more structured shopper shape to compliment this monochrome look.
