Tricks of the trend: How to wear dungarees

Channel these three chic takes on the overall and avoid looking like a giant baby

To dungaree or not to dungaree? That is the REAL question on our sartorial agenda right now. The dungarees might be one of the hardest looks to pull off but will garner you the respect of your peers if you manage it.

We recommend you work them one of three ways:

1 Go trés casual: Basically imagine you are a member of the extended royal family holidaying in a villa in Greece.

L-R: Tee-shirt, €105, FRAME Denim; dungarees, €49.95 at Zara; sandals, €27.40 at Asos.

2 Add some glam: Pair your dungarees with some killer heels and a pop of colour in the bag department a la SJP dashing to an upmarket brunch in New York.

L-R: Shirt, €220, Elie Tahari at Brown Thomas; dungarees, €59.95 at Mango; shoes, €65 at River Island; bag, €645 at Christian Louboutin.

3 Work the minimalist monochrome: Do a laid-back take on the utility thing in the vein of Olivia Palermo.

L-R: Tee-shirt, €25 at Cos; dungarees, €65 at Topshop, sunglasses, €3 at Penneys; trainers, €60 at River Island.
