Archie Battersbee’s life support should be switched off, a judge has ruled.

The 12-year-old has been in a coma since April after his mother found him unconscious at their home in Essex.

Earlier this month, doctors confirmed that the young boy has no chance of survival.

They stressed that prolonging his treatment will not undo the damage done to his brain.

Today, three judges agreed that it would be in Archie’s best interest to switch off his life support.

Archie suffered a catastrophic brain injury after attempting a social media challenge in April.

His parents issued an appeal after judges ruled that doctors could lawfully switch off his life support.

They believed their son was still alive, but doctors declared him brain-stem dead.

The ruling comes after Archie’s father was rushed to the hospital with a suspected stroke.

His mother, Hollie Dance called for the ruling to be delayed, but the court went ahead despite her plea.

She is reportedly “disgusted” by the news.

Chief executive, Andrea Williams told The Mirror: “I am very disappointed that they have not adjourned this decision given that Mr. Battersbee has been taken to hospital.”

“I’ve been in touch with Archie’s mother – she is disgusted,” Williams added.

Doctors said the 12-year-old’s progress is “very poor” but his mother said he’s a fighter.

She said her son should be given the chance to fight.
