Not another one.
Coronation Street was fairly dramatic there for a while with Pat Phelan being pushed off a lighthouse, swimming to Ireland, hitting up a B&B, and eventually showing up again to cause a load of hassle.
But then he died a gruesome death (thanks Anna) and everything was fine again.
Except it wasn’t because then everyone decided they wanted to leave the cobbles for a fresh start.
How very rude of them.
Anna and Faye Windass said that they wanted to leave which is, you know, fair enough like, but now it looks like Gary is set to be heading off too.
There’ll be no Windass’s left lads, honestly.
Mikey North, who has played Gary for about 10 years now, said that it’s time for him to take a bit of a break and “de-Windass.”
He told What’s On TV magazine:
“I’ve got about two months off now. I’m going to go away and de-Windass for a bit, and then come back and see what’s next.”
Unreal man, you deserve it.
Thankfully, a two month break most likely means that Gary will be back on the cobbles before the summer is out which is good news for everyone who loves a bit of Windass in their life.
North also recently confirmed to Manchester Evening News that he had signed a new 12-month contract with the soap too, so we needn’t worry.
He said:
“I’ve just signed again for another year so this will be my 11th year, which is crazy, but it’s been my best year, I’m very happy at Corrie.
“Gary has been much more of a central part of the show and I’ve been involved in some really nice storylines, culminating in the week ahead.”
