Gavin and Jenny, both optometrists, were flying home to the States after a business trip in Paris last month when Jenny went into premature labour at 25 weeks.
The plane was in the air for only an hour when Jenny experienced what she thought - and hoped - might just be Braxton Hicks.
The airline staff contemplated turning the aircraft around but ultimately opted to divert to Dublin, where Zoe was born four minutes later at the Rotunda, weighing just 1 pound 8 ounces.
With Zoe 'Ireland' Drake doing well in hospital, the couple, who also have a three-year-old son, Aiden, will spend Christmas Day with a family they met there.
