CCPC recall kid’s paddling pool due to presence of chemical that can ‘harm health of children’

There were around 204 of these products sold in the Republic of Ireland.

The Competitions and Consumer Protection Commission has recalled a kid’s paddling pool due to the presence of a chemical which can cause potential infertility later in life.

According to the recall notice, a safety issue was identified with the ‘Bestway Paddling Pool’ which has been sold on Amazon.

Officials warn: “The risk presented by the product is Chemical. The plastic material of the product has an excessive concentration of phthalates.

“These phthalates may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to the reproductive system.”

The brand is Bestway and the ASIN number is B002CIKZ12. The batch number, barcode and model are unknown.

The recall product was sold online through the Amazon platform and it is understood that there were around 204 of these products sold in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do

If you purchased one of these products, you should discontinue use immediately, discard the product and keep it out of the reach of children.
