‘They got bombarded with love”
Departing Late Late Show host, Ryan Tubridy revealed that he reunited with Toy Show star, Saoirse Ruane this week.
Speaking on his RTE Radio 1 slot this morning, Tubs said he met Saoirse and her mum for tea and rocky road.
Saoirse stole the hearts of the nation when she appeared on The Late Late Toy Show in December 2020 and has remained in close contact with host Ryan ever since.
The Galway native was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called osteosarcoma, which resulted in the amputation of her leg back in 2019.
On his morning radio show, Ryan shared how he met Saoirse and her mum, Roseanna at a local cafe where they sat and chatted.
He said: “They were in great form, lovely to see her. A dote as you know.”
Ryan continued to tell listeners about his little catch up with the family.
He said: “A beautiful family from Kiltullagh, they were showing me photos of the post they’ve been receiving from people all over the country.
“They got bombarded with love. The poor post man in Kiltullagh, dragging bags to the house. Very very thoughtful, lots of nice gifts, cards and kindness. I thought that was real nice. That was a lovely way to spend the day”.
“This will be her biggest battle”
In a recent Instagram post, Roseanna updated followers on Saoirse’s condition.
She said the past few weeks have been “agonising” and that little Saoirse is about to embark on her toughest battle with Cancer yet.
She’ll start the next phase of her treatment in the coming weeks.
Roseanna wrote: “We travelled to Dublin last week for a lengthy meeting with our team and since then we have been taking time to absorb the outcome.
“This by far will be her biggest battle to date.
“It breaks our hearts to watch her go through all this trauma again. She’s only 11. Old enough to know a little of what’s going on but too young to have to deal with such an ordeal again.
“We are so so proud of the beautiful precious & courageous girl we are so lucky to call our daughter. As always she continues to smile every day.”
