Childcare providers will reportedly go on strike for three days this month.

Irish childcare providers in the early years childcare sector are planning a three-day protest, according to the Federation of Early Childhood Providers.

The protest will be held in Dublin between September 26th and September 28th. The protest will be held outside Leinster House on Kildare Street in Dublin.

All childcare providers will close their doors for approximately three days at the end of this month.

The Federation of Early Childhood Providers said small and medium creches are under immense pressure and are hoping the strike will raise awareness.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the group said:

“Join us in a powerful stand for change! We invite you to unite with passionate individuals from across the nation in the fight for a brighter future in the early years childcare sector.

“Mark your calendars for a prominent three-day protest, starting on the 26th of September at 12 noon, right outside Leinster House on Kildare Street, Dublin.”

On the first day of the strike, childcare providers will gather outside Leinster House to demand attention and action.

“Together, we will raise our voices, sending a resounding message to those in authority that the early years childcare sector deserves our unwavering support. Providers, Parents, Staff, Children & Families will be standing side by side for change.

On the second and third day of the strike, county groups will come together in solidarity.

They will meet outside their local county childcare committee offices or their local TD’s office.

They hope the strikes will “show them the strength of our collective determination and the urgency for change”.

“Throughout these monumental days, our message will reach far and wide. We have press releases prepared, ready to be sent to the media on each day of the protests. Let’s make sure our voices are heard across the nation, amplifying our cause and inspiring others to join our movement.”

The group hopes this strike will create a “transformative shift in the early years childcare sector”.

“Let’s stand united, resilient, and unwavering in our pursuit of change. Join us on the 26th of September and be a part of this historic movement. Together, we will make a difference!”
