Christmas dinner may be the highlight of the day for many, but Christine McGuinness recently revealed it isn't popular in her home.
Mum-shamers targeted the mum when she revealed she gives her children fish fingers and chips on Christmas Day, but she quickly shut them down.
She explained that "autism doesn't stop" during the Christmas holidays.
Christine's children have autism and she said food aversion is quite common.
She wanted to give her children food they were both familiar with and enjoyed for Christmas.
"Because autism doesn’t stop for Christmas day! They like what they like and I want my children to eat so I choose my battles and I don’t want one today!"
"For anyone who may not understand this, food aversion can be quite common for those with autism," she said.
The mum explained that she wasn't being lazy or making less of an effort by opting for this meal.
"This isn’t lazy parenting or fussy children, this is sensory issues due to their condition that limits what our children eat. I am delighted they are very slowly exploring new textures.
"It may be basic and it’s still all beige but they’re happy and their tummies are full," she stressed.
The mum has often been praised for raising awareness about autism.
Christine's children, Penelope, Leo, and Felicity were all diagnosed with autism.
The mum was also diagnosed last year and said she is very lucky.
She told Hello: "That's what I was born to do. And they were born to be my children.
"I'm very, very lucky that I've got three autistic children because they can support each other. They've always someone who can be with them."
