Dad Attempted Murder Of Toddler Because He Wasn’t ‘Man Enough’ To Be A Parent

A 29-year-old dad has been arrested in Arapahoe county in Colorado after telling police that he attempted to kill his 2-year-old son, Isaiah.

According to the disturbed dad he wanted to take his child’s life because he felt he wasn’t “man enough” to raise a child.

According to court records, the father took his son to the park on the 21st of August and while watching him play, considered different ways to end the boy’s life.

According to Fox59, Nathan Weitzel put his son into his car, deliberately neglected to secure him with a seatbelt and then drove into several cars deliberately at about 75 miles an hour, with the aim of killing his son.

When police arrived at the scene, Weitzel admitted that he was trying to murder his son. It was also reported that he used cocaine earlier in the day.

An officer reporting on the incident wrote:
“The reason he wanted to kill Isaiah was because being a father was a big responsibility and he did not think he was man enough to raise a child.”

A witness also told police that before calling the authorities, she saw the father hitting the child:
“it looked like an elbow. It was horrifying.”

Incredibly, two-year-old, Isaiah thankfully survived the incident though he is currently in a half body cast after being treated at Children’s Hospital Colorado. His relieved mother, Nancy Lopez that her ex with whom she had shared custody is “in the place that he should be. He needs to be in jail for a long time.” She has stated that Weitzel told her on more than one occasion that he didn’t want to be a father. He used to spend weekends with his son. He is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, child abuse, assault, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance and vehicular assault.

A GoFundMe campaign set up to pay for Isaiah’s medical bills and Nancy’s living expenses while she cares for her child has exceeded its goal of $20,000.
