It must be a very proud day for the Murphy family!
Cillian Murphy’s youngest son, Aran, is set to follow in his actor father’s footsteps.
The 17-year-old has been cast in New Zealand director Taika Waititi’s latest film, Klara and the Sun.
US entertainment outlet, Deadline, reports that the teenager joins the Sony 3000 Pictures project alongside actresses Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega, as well as fellow newcomer Mia Tharia.

The upcoming film is an adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro’s dystopian sci-fi novel set in the fictional future where some children are genetically engineered for enhanced academic ability.
Ortega will play the lead character, Klara, an Artificial Friend created to avoid loneliness.
Klara is purchased by a worried mum (Adams) to provide company and friendship for her sickly daughter, Josie (Tharia).
Young Murphy will play Josie’s best friend and next door neighbour, Rick.
This isn’t Aran’s first acting gig as he played the titular character in the Hamnet play from 2018 until 2019.
He also starred as Leo in the Andrew Legge-directed movie Lola in 2022.
