Jamie filed for the conservatorship to end in September after years of insisting it was necessary. Britney's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, claimed he did so with ulterior motives, as a complete termination of the conservatorship (rather than just Jamie's suspension from it) would have avoided a potential investigation into his finances.
In court documents filed in October, Rosengart questioned whether Jamie's unexpected change in stance on the necessity of the conservatorship was "motivated by a desire to bolster his reputation or to avoid his deposition or responding to the outstanding discovery served on him in August."
Jamie was ultimately suspended from his role as one of his daughter's conservators, and on November 12, the conservatorship was ended.
In a statement to People on Monday, Rosengart called Jamie's most recent request to have the singer's estate pay his legal fees "shameful."

"Mr. Spears reaped many millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, while paying his lawyers millions more, all from Britney's work and hard-earned money," he said.
"The conservatorship has been terminated and Mr. Spears was suspended ignominiously. Under the circumstances, his petition is not only legally meritless, it is an abomination. Britney poignantly testified about the pain her father caused her and this only adds to it.
"This is not what a father who loves his daughter does," he finished.Explore more on these topics:
