So cool.
The Met Gala wasn’t the same without Rihanna making an appearance, but while she may not have been there in the flesh, she was there in spirit.
Without even attending the biggest night in fashion, the singer has managed to “shut down” the event despite not even serving a look.
Rihanna is considered a Met Gala icon, knowing how to consistently nail the themes. Due to her final months of pregnancy, Rihanna didn’t attend and a tribute was paid to her from beyond the red carpet.
The 34 year old was transformed into a marble statue at the exhibit, depicting her as a glamourous piece of art.
Taking to Instagram to show off her statue, which features her baby bump, the mum to be thanked the Met Museum’s Greco-Roman galleries for the gesture.

She wrote: “Shut down the Met in marble! what’s more gilded than that?
“Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!”
Explaing the idea behind the statue, Vogue explained how the Greek goddess Eirene is usually the featured statue in this gallery, but this year it was Rihanna.
They wrote: “The statue of ‘Eirene (The Personification of Peace)’ is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries. But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover.”
It doesn’t look like this statue will be a permanent fixture in the museum and instead looked to be created through CGI.
Rihanna didn’t attend the event last night in New York as she is currently in the third trimester of her pregnancy, but did however reveal to Vogue that while she doesn’t want to “slow down”, she still has “businesses that aren’t going to run themselves.”
