All we want for Christmas is Jim Carrey as the Grinch – again.
Yet it seems like our wishes won’t be coming true anytime soon as the actor has responded to the rumours he was ready to pop on the green suit again.
Giant Freaking Robot reported that Jim was interested in a sequel to the iconic film.
They wrote: “Jim Carrey is returning to Universal Pictures for The Grinch 2, once again playing Dr. Seuss’s most famous and ill-tempered creation.”
Yet unfortunately our dreams won’t become a reality. Can you hear our hearts breaking?
Jim’s representative told People: “There is no truth to Jim reprising his role as the Grinch in a sequel to The Grinch.”
It shouldn’t come as a surprise for big fans of the 61-year-old will know of his dislike of sequel movies.
Speaking to CinemaBlend in 2017, the actor said: “I find sequels are a function of commerce for the most part. At least the two I’ve done, they were characters I enjoyed doing, but I did find myself almost parroting myself at that point.
“When you put 10 years between you and the last time you did it, suddenly you’re going, ‘How did I do that again?’… So, you’re imitating your original inspiration.”
Even more evidence that Jim won’t be playing the green grumpy man as he recently spoke about retiring from the acting world altogether.
Last year in April he claimed that following the release of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 we won’t be seeing him on the big screen again and explained that he feels he has “done enough.”
