Yesterday, we learned that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had decided on a name for their son.
The official instagram for the royal couple made the announcement moments ago.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child:
"Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor"
"This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle."
We adore the name and think it's the perfect choice as Meghan and Harry have always gone down the non-traditional route.
But why Archie? What's the meaning behind the name?
According to
nameberry.com: "Archie is a boy's name of German origin meaning 'truly brave'." As well as that, according to the U.K. Office for National Statistics, Archie was the 18th most popular name for boys in England and Wales in 2017.
It's also funny to look back earlier this year to when a dog walker bumped into the Prince George and his grandmother, Carole Middleton.
The woman told
The Sun: "I was asked by a police minder not to take a photo of the children, which I didn’t, but George started stroking my dog."
"Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew it."
"To my astonishment he said 'I’m called Archie' with a big smile on his face. I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely."
So yeah, not only is Prince George adorable, he's also psychic.
