There are currently two warnings in effect.

It is positively gross out today.

The wind and rain appear to be at another level.

So we’re not really surprised to learn that Met Eireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for parts of the country.

The Status Yellow – Rainfall warning is in place for South Donegal, Leitrim and parts of Sligo.

It is valid until 8pm this evening, and was issued yesterday evening at 8pm.

Alongside this, another weather warning is also in place.

There is a status yellow wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry.

However, this is due to be lifted this morning at 9am.

As for the weather for the weekend, it’s looking fairly mixed.

According to Met Eireann:

“A mixture of sunny spells and frequent showers on Saturday, the showers again will be heavy at times and wintry on hills. The best of the drier spells will be in Leinster early in the day.”

“In the afternoon a more organised band of rain and sleet will move into southern parts. Feeling cold with highs of just 4 to 7°C in fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds, reaching gale force on north and west coasts.”

Sunday will be much colder apparently, with some frost and ice in places.

“A frosty start with icy patches leads to another day of widespread showers which will be wintry at times. Showers most frequent in southern parts.”

“Maximum temperatures just 2 to 3 degrees in the north, but reaching 5 to 6 degrees further south. Variable winds mostly moderate in strength, fresh to strong on the south coast. A widespread frost again on Sunday night, lows of zero to minus 2 degrees.”

Okay so make sure you wrap up warm this weekend folks.
