Michael Owen has confirmed he won’t be visiting the Love Island villa.

It was reported that the sportsman was going to visit his daughter during the Meet the Parents episode, but he has put the rumours to bed.

Speaking to Sky Sports Racing, Michael said he’d rather go to the races.

He admitted that he has no plans on visiting Gemma during her time on Love Island.

“My wife might do that duty. I can represent the horses and she can represent the daughter.”

Earlier this week, a source said Owen was considering visiting his daughter in the villa.

He had cleared his schedule for the month of July, but it looks like Gemma’s mum will be flying to Majorca instead.

The Love Island contestant has been coupled up with Luca Bish for the majority of the show.

The dad added that he isn’t worried about Gemma’s time on Love Island.

“I don’t know what I’ll get from Box To Box. But I know what I’m going to get from my daughter. I’ve fathered her for 19 years so I’m pretty sure what I’m going to get from her.”

The meet-the-parents episode typically features towards the end of Love Island.

During last night’s episode, fishmonger Luca told Gemma: “I haven’t met someone like you before. I think it’s rare to meet someone like you.”
