Center Parcs UK hit with backlash over decision to close on Queen’s funeral

Center Parcs stated, "Following the announcement of the date of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, we have made the decision to close all our UK villages on Monday 19 September at 10 am as a mark of respect and to allow as many of our colleagues as possible to be part of this historic moment."

"Guests who were due to arrive on Monday 19 September should not travel, we will reopen on Tuesday 20 September to welcome guests. All impacted guests will receive an email from us today."

Families who were planning on staying at the holiday park expressed their outrage on Twitter.

"Center Parcs expects people already on holiday on Monday 19th September to vacate their accommodation at 10 am and then return at 4pm on Tuesday because of The Queen’s Funeral. They’ve actually lost the plot. Big time," one wrote. Another added, "Surely it would be better for Center Parcs to put up big screens for guests to watch the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, should they so wish, rather than kicking them out for a day? They've not thought this through, have they?" "Sadly you've cost thousands of families hundreds if not thousands of pounds out of pocket.
