Was your child's school affected?
Some schools have been forced to close due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions across Ireland.
The country woke up to a blanket of snow this morning, but most schools remained open despite the cold snap.
However, multiple schools in Clare and Limerick were forced to close due to the wintery conditions. The heavy snowfall and ice caused hazardous road conditions which forced some schools to close this morning.
It was not safe for pupils or staff to travel to school so the safest option was for them to close.
One school affected by closures is Hazelwood College in Dromcollogher. The school shared, "For health and safety reasons, the school will remain closed today."
Following the closures, Met Éireann issued an orange weather warning for multiple counties.
Met Éireann issued a snow/ice warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Connacht, Longford, Louth, Meath, and Westmeath.
Met Éireann stated;
"Further spells of sleet and snow today combined with strong east to northeast winds. Significant accumulations of snow are expected in some areas along with icy conditions."
The public has been warned of possible impacts including very hazardous road conditions, travel disruptions as well as poor visibility.
The warning will remain in place until midnight on Friday, March 10th.
