Sinéad O’Connor reportedly left specific instructions for her children in the event of her death.

The singer previously opened up about plans she had in place in order to care for her kids when she is no longer here.

Speaking to People in 2021, the singer said:

“When the artists are dead, they’re much more valuable than when they’re alive. Tupac has released way more albums since he died than he ever did alive, so it’s kind of gross what record companies do.”

“That’s why I’ve always instructed my children since they were very small, ‘If your mother drops dead tomorrow before you called 911, call my accountant and make sure the record companies don’t start releasing my records and not telling you where the money is.'”

O’Connor’s family issued a statement following her passing on July 26th.

She is survived by her three children. Her son Shane sadly died by suicide at the age of 17.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

Police also issued a statement following the singer’s death. They found her body at her home in London.

“Police were called at 11:18 hrs on Wednesday, 26 July to reports of an unresponsive woman at a residential address in the SE24 area. Officers attended. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Next of kin have been notified. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”

Vigils have been held in both Dublin and London following the singer’s heartbreaking death.

Fans across the UK and Ireland have gathered to pay their respects to the late Sinéad O’Connor after she sadly passed away on Wednesday at age 56.
