Single mums are among the least advantaged groups when it comes to looking for housing in Ireland.

A new study has revealed that lone mothers, people with disabilities, and young people are treated the worst when trying to find a place to live.

The report by the Irish Human Rights Commission (IHRC) and the Economic Social Research Institute showed that these groups face the most discrimination and inequality in relation to housing.

The study wanted to see whether certain groups of people in Ireland faced more issues when trying to find a place to live.

It found that single mums were among the worst affected, as well as those living with disabilities.

Approximately 60 percent of homeless families include lone parents.

The report also found that people aged between 18 and 34 years old are six times more likely to face discrimination in relation to housing.

The study recommends paying more attention to these less advantaged groups during the housing crisis.
