I often think about what life would be like as a member of the British Royal Family. Polo, crowns and amazing opportunities to travel? Sounds about right. However, I've never really thought about the Royal Family expenditure. I think you just kind of forget that they need money at all. Well, I got the financial reports for the Royal Family this morning for 2017/2018. It was an interesting read for sure, but it was the travel expenses that really caught my eye. Probably because the family spent up on £3 million quid on travel in the last 12 months. The report covers the period from April 2017 to March 2018. It showed me a break down of all journeys that cost the family more than £15,000. So, all the big ones really. The detail is pretty impressive, and the report lists the trip, the royal household involved  in the trip, the itinerary and the cost of the trip. The Prince of Wales (Charles) seems to have amassed the largest expense, having traveled to India, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore with his wife in from September to November last year. The cost of that trip was £362,000. Prince Charles also visited Dominica, Barbuda and Antigua - racking up a bill of £56,000. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also had a few pricey trips within the time period. The pair headed to Scandinavia on a small tour that set the royals back £49,000. One really interesting discovery I made while sifting through the royal family finances? The trip to Ireland. As we all recall, Prince Charles and Camilla came to visit Ireland last summer. They visited Dublin, Kilkenny, and Killcullen - to name a few spots. The trip cost £33,000. Oh, to be rich. Anyway, the official total of travel expenses for the period was £2,770,000.
