A teacher in a London school has been suspended because he can’t ‘read or write’

What?

Yep, you read that right honey – this actually happened.

It has been reported that a teacher in a London-based secondary school has been suspended.

In the first week of his new job, it was discovered that the teacher in question could not read or write.

Two abilities you definitely need if you wish to teach.

The man was called to the headmaster’s office, where he was suspended.

The man in question suffers from dyspraxia, and told the headmaster that he could “hardly write for more than a couple of minutes as it was too painful”.

He was hired to work in the school by TeachFirst, who aim to get college graduates into teaching positions.

The charity admitted that they were unaware of the teacher’s condition when the placed him in the North London school.

Details of this situation have emerged after the teacher attempted to sue Thomas More Catholic School for constructive dismissal and disability discrimination.

Unsurprisingly, the man did not win his case, and the London Central Employment Tribunal threw out his claims in March.
