Teenager dies as four left injured in Tipperary car accident

A teenager has died after a two-car collision in Co Tipperary.

Four others have been left injured with one said to be in a serious condition.

The incident occurred on the N24 in Ballykisteen shortly before 9pm last night.

The 19-year-old was travelling in one of the cars as a passenger when the accident occurred and his body was taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination is set to be carried out.

The driver of the car and another passenger were taken to University Hospital Limerick, with the passenger said to be in a serious condition.

Two people travelling in the second car were also taken to UHL and left with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The N24 in Ballykisteen remained closed this morning for a technical examination and local diversions were put in place.
