Warning issued to Irish parents following recall for Amazon and Shein toy

Parents are urged to check.

Irish parents are being warned to stay away from two different toys after a recall was issued by Amazon and Shein.

A recall was issued on the 1pc Bear Design Pet Plush Toy by Shein due to a risk of choking.

While the brand and barcode number of the toy are unknown, the model type/number is B220914026510-1.

The recall was issued by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, and they said: “The risk associated with the product is that of choking.

“The toy is described as a Pet Plush Toy however it is attractive to children. It contains small parts (eyes and metal chain) which can easily detach.

“As a consequence, a small child may put them in the mouth and choke.”

Anyone who bought the toy is urged to stop using it and apply for a refund.

The CCPC said: “If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately, discard the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

“SHEIN will refund the purchase price to you. If you wish to contact SHEIN for any concerns or questions about this product this can be done via your user account on the platform.”

A second toy sold on Amazon has also been recalled due to the risk of injuries.

The barcode for the myHodo Magnetic Balls is unknown and the model type/number is Magnetkugeln bunt 5 mm.

The CCPC warned: “The risk associated with the product is that of Injuries.

“If a child swallows two or more magnets with a magnetic flux above the permitted limit, the magnets may attract each other and cause internal obstruction and/or perforation.”

Parents who bought these are being urged to stop using them immediately and keep them away from children.

The CCPC continued: “If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately, discard the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

“You may wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on the platform.”
